Kanazawa City Designated Cultural Property
This sanmon (“main gate”) has a “Yakui-mon” style frame structure and was built in 1804. It is especially interesting to note that records remain which denote the year of construction. The styling of the details are particular to the Kanazawa area. Boasting the greatest scale of all the temples located at the foot of Utatsuyama, this stately structure built on elevated ground is a true landmark of the district. The stairs of the approach to the temple were restored after careful excavation and examination and invoke an atmosphere of bygone days.
