Former Main Building of the Ishikawa Prefecture Second Middle School
Ancien bâtiment principal du Deuxième Collège du ...
This middle school was constructed in 1899 during the era of Japan’s former education system.
The main building is a western style building. Its front facade was designed to accentuate the central triangular roof, which is flanked on either side by steepled towers. The building was once referred to as the Sansento, or the three steeples.
While the building was built following the design standards of the time period, its decorative style is distinctive and unique. It is an architectural artifact important to the understanding of the design of school buildings as it evolved through to the modern era.
