Oyama Jinja Shrine Garden (Former Kanaya Goten Garden)
The Kaga Domain’s Maeda clan used to have a detached residence, called the Kanaya Goten, where Oyama Jinja Shrine stands today. The garden was built between the late-Edo period and Oyama Jinja Shrine’s construction.
The garden has many notable features, such as its central islands whose design was inspired by the shapes of musical instruments used in the Imperial Court and the various bridges crossing over its islands. The highlights of the garden include Kyoonbaku, a small waterfall built into an artificial hill and Togetsukyo, a decorative arch bridge made of tomuro-stone.
