Kanazawa Shrine Honden / Kanazawa Shrine Haiden

Kanazawa Shrine Main Sanctuary (formerly the tutelary shrine for Meirindo School) / Kanazawa Shrine Worship Hall

Kanazawa Shrine was built in 1794 as the tutelary shrine for Meirindo School, the han school established in the same year by the eleventh head of the Kaga Domain’s Maeda clan, Maeda Harunaga.
The main sanctuary, built at the same time, features the nagare-zukuri style of shrine architecture where the front face of the roof extends out longer than the back.
The worship hall is located on the northern side of the main sanctuary and was built in the late-Edo period. Its highlights include the coffered ceilings and the decorative paintings on the ceilings.
