Myotaiji Temple Sanmon
Kanazawa City Designated Cultural Property
English
Presumably, this “Korai-mon” style sanmon (“main gate”) was built at the turn of the 19th century. Its main characteristics are its frame structure, which is rare for shrine and temple architecture, as well as its ornamental detailing. (The “Korai-mon” style is most often found in castles and any decoration in this style is rare.) The detailing on the pillars and crossbeams are noteworthy. In addition, there is one other “Korai-mon” style gate among the temples located at the foot of Utatsuyama: the Renjoji Temple sanmon, a city designated Important Cultural Property.
