Myohoji Temple Enkianthus Perulatus
Kanazawa City Designated Natural Monument
English
The enkianthus perulatus at Myohoji Temple is 4.5 meters tall, 8.2 meters wide, and 1.7 meters around the trunk at its base, making it one of the largest enkianthus perulatus trees within Ishikawa Prefecture. Four thick branches grow sturdily towards the east from near the tree’s base, and the overall shape of the tree spreads out like a fan.
There is no record of the tree's age, but it is thought to have been planted as a garden tree in 1615 when Myohoji Temple was first built here, and is estimated to be over 400 years old.
The time of full bloom is late April

Autumn leaves are in late November
